Northstar Awarded 8,500 Linear Foot Endurance Seawall
February 26, 2004

Northstar is pleased to announce that the first phase of the Caribbean Isle Seawall project is underway.

The 8,500 linear foot project, valued at well over $1,000,000.00 is one of the largest composite sheet pile applications to date.

Northstar's Endurance POLARIS Series was chosen over a midrange competitive vinyl profile called ShoreGuard 550, manufactured by CMI, Ltd. A ShoreGuard vinyl profile had been used previously by the Community.

Caribbean Isles Community Association Manager, Roy Ginnick states, "We were looking for an alternative to the vinyl sheet piling, which has let us down in this community in the past several years. The excessive deflection in the existing vinyl wall is very apparent as you walk around our community."

Northstar's Regional Sales Manager, Brad Lund, commented "Endurance is a perfect fit for any customer looking to mitigate deflection in a vinyl seawall while maintaining a completely synthetic design. By combining the strongest synthetic sheet piling in the world with a composite cap and wale system, we were able to completely eliminate any wood or concrete in the structure. This is what the customer was looking for."

Additionally, stated Lund, "The combined efforts of two engineers, Rube Clarson, P.E., and Northstar Senior Engineer, Carl Hazenberg, P.E. is what made this project become a reality. The engineers recognized the shortcomings of vinyl in this application and saw that the only way to design within Clarson's deflection limit would be found in a design that utilized the Endurance Marine Composite.
