 The term “garbage in garbage out” may sound cliché, but it’s certainly true. At Northstar, we apply the term to quality, that’s why all raw material used in the manufacturing of Northstar products are 100% Source-Certified. 
Other manufacturers purchase their raw material from scrap brokers who consolidate scrap of unknown quality and content from many different sources. Scrap material most always contains a variety of incompatible foreign objects like metal, nylon weather stripping, etc. These errant objects often breach the weatherable protective surface coating or “capstock” on the sheet piling (see below). If the capstock is breached, what can be said about the long-term weatherablilty of the structure? After all, these manufacturers claim it's the capstock that gives their product long life!

At Northstar, we know the source of our raw material. Knowing the raw material source insures that the finished product will be free from “breaches and ugly lumps in the protective capstock”.
What Are You Going to Buy?

Always be sure to ask how a manufacturer certifies the source of their raw material and what warranty they offer for breaches in the protective capstock. If they waiver in their response, you have your answer. TIP: You will probably be told that a contaminant breaching the capstock is not considered a manufacturing defect - but it IS! What other products are sold this way? If you buy their product and find these defects, you should return the material for a refund under the Manufacturers Warranty. (Available Northstar Products.)
Here's the real question: "How can a Manufacturer give you any assurance of performance when their raw material stream is at best, a mix of scrap material from unknown sources?" If it's not Source-Certified, you're rolling the dice!
